Sr. Unix Systems Administrator

ALTEK Information Technology, Inc. is currently recruiting for:

Sr. Unix Systems Administrator Title:   Sr. Unix Systems Administrator
Location: Washington, DC
Duration:  6 Months + Responsibilities for UNIX ADMINISTRATION:
* Excellent analytical skills in order to effectively analyze broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain the desired results.
* An excellent working knowledge of a variety of software packages and hardware platforms, working knowledge of communications equipment and protocols.
* Effective written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present technical information to audiences with varying degrees of technical background
* Superior project management skills coupled with the ability to mentor monitor and guide the work of others.
* Expert troubleshooting skills to methodically diagnosis a problems and implement remedies.
* Technical expertise in area of responsibility (as listed below under specialized skills).

Specialized skills:
Candidate must demonstrate:
* Excellent AIX OS administration experience and skillset.
* Experience troubleshooting problems at hardware, firmware, operating systems, and network layers.
* Ability to work with other groups in support of database and middleware applications.
* Experience with Server Virtualization and rapid server deployments
* Experience with Disaster Recovery Exercises.

Operating Systems Administration: AIX, Red Hat Linux, and HP-UX
Hardware Platforms: IBM P-series, IBM RS/6000, HP and SUN
Communications: TCP/IP, Firewall configurations, Routers
Programming: Korn, Bash shell scripting, Perl
Provide OS Support - Databases: Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM
- Storage: EMC DASD, IBM DASD, IBM TSM
- Software: MQSeries, WebSphere, Tibco, Tivoli

* This position requires a BA/BS in Computer Science with 3-5 years of prior experience in the specific technical discipline, OR equivalent experience. Additional Skills:
Some healthcare knowledge preferable
