Retail Apparel Buyer- Merchandise Manager

COMPANY OVERVIEW: A major specialty retailer with over 500 stores throughout the US is looking for a talented Merchandise Manager- Buyer for their Mens Apparel category. This Buyer can have Mens or Ladies Apparel experience. This company is doing well financially and has extensive expansion plans in the near future. This Merchandise Manager- Buyer would report up to the VP of Merchandising, and would have direct reports. Candidates can live in the Columbia MD, Westminster MD, Owings Mills MD, York- PA, Baltimore MD or Washington DC area.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for all financials of owning a category, including sales projection, markdowns, turnover, and margins
• Responsible for managing all aspects of the merchandise business
• Analyzing top line sales to bottom line profits
• Developing marketing concepts
• Identifying trends and updating merchandise assortments based on current trends and competitors
• Responsible for selecting and sourcing product
• Creating and maintaining relationships with vendors, as well as negotiating product quality, purchase quantity, cost and delivery
• Keeping up to date on fashion trends
• Partnering with product development, sourcing, marketing and planning teams to ensure product mix is in line with company strategy
• Analyzing costs and price to maximize growth opportunities
• Meeting with vendors to determine product style mix and direction
• Train, mentor and motivate merchandising team including assistant and associate merchandise managers.

 RequirementsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Looking for a Mens Buyer, but would consider a strong Merchant in any Mens or Ladies Apparel category
• The ideal candidate must be aggressive, product driven, results-oriented, and creative
• 3-5 years of experience as an Apparel Buyer for a corporate retailer
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent industry experience
• Strong computer skills, including experience in Microsoft Excel
• Must be financially driven
• Strong leadership and management abilities
