Manager, Data Center Applications at Washington

SUMMARY
SNI Technology is currently recruting for a Manager, of Data Center Applications for a client in Washington, DC. Under the general direction of the Head of Infrastructure and Operations, this individual is responsible for the overall enterprise wide effectiveness and efficiency of the firm???s Data Center Applications, with primary emphasis on Messaging & Collaboration Systems. The individual in this role takes ownership for the firm???s IT Data Center Applications, including but not limited to architecture, configuration, deployment and maintenance as well as ensuring high-quality tier-3 end user support for specific operational systems. Particular areas of oversight are that of the infrastructure platform for the firm???s MS Exchange Messaging environment, Lync 2013, Citrix XenApp, HP/Autonomy EAS and Active Directory. Each of these are inclusive of ongoing architecture, management, and business continuity strategies for same. This individual leads the migration to new technologies and forecasts financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives.
JOB DESCRIPTION

- Coordinate the ongoing activities of the Data Center Applications team, inclusive of oversight for the related IT project portfolio as well as ongoing incident response management for supported systems.

- Oversee and coordinate lifecycle management for all communications servers, business continuance and service restoration strategies, and ongoing roadmap for the firm???s next generation of collaborative tools and underlying groupware platforms.

- Participate as a member of the IT Infrastructure & Operations management team that is responsible for defining the governance processes of the organization???s infrastructure architecture, data centers, networks, telecommunications, client engineering, and infrastructure applications.

- Work closely with other IT managers to develop data center application platform strategies, lead the migration to new technologies, and address ongoing operational needs throughout the firm.

- Lead strategic infrastructure applications planning to achieve firm business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.

- Continually evaluate the current state of the firm???s data center application architecture and services against firm goals and objectives, and adapt operational strategies to maintain alignment.

- Contribute to the design and execution of the enterprise-wide business continuity plan.

- Define requirements for new technology implementations and communicate to key stakeholders.

- Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases.

- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives.

- Manage and monitor annual budgets and expenditures for the Data Center Applications team.

- QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree (B.S.) in technology related major preferred.

- Must have 3+ years of leadership experience in managing IT operational teams.

- Must have 8 + years of IT work experience, developing and implementing technical solutions.

- Experience in a multi-office law firm is desired but not required.

- Extensive knowledge of groupware applications, underlying platforms and outsourced systems, including all of the following: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, HP/Autonomy EAS or Symantec Vault Archival, MS Lync, Microsoft Active Directory

- Knowledge of the following highly desired: Citrix XenApp , Symantec Altiris, MS SCOM,

- Knowledge of the following desired but not required: Proofpoint, Quest tools for messaging (QCS, Spotlight) and general purpose tools for Infrastructure Applications portfolio management

- Experience in related IT disciplines, such as network engineering, database administration, computer operations and production support.

- Ability to lead cross functional project teams in implementing projects of a complex nature.

- Must have strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities, excellent written and spoken communication skills, and ability to mentor others

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, although the Data Center Application Manager will be expected to work additional hours as required. Flexibility with working hours and occasional travel may also be required.
