POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages assigned program(s) admissions process to achieve established performance outcomes. Informs potential clients about service availability, how to apply for services, and other relevant information.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Recruits participants for workforce training program by utilizing various marketing strategies.
2. Serves as a main point of contact to customers and responds quickly to a high volume of telephone, email, and in-person inquiries.
3. Facilitates recruitment and training sessions to various audiences and large groups weekly and District-wide, to generate program interest, answer questions, and provide information about workforce development program.
4. Assesses applicant interests and needs and makes referrals to community resources as appropriate.
5. Provides technical assistance to customers post training completion and assessment with completion and submission of online employment applications and DC Networks registration.
6. Creates and maintains program participant electronic and hard copy files according to organizational and accrediting standards, policies, and grant requirements.
7. Exercises sound judgment in evaluating applicant eligibility for GGW hospitality program and carefully reviews supporting documentation from local referring agencies to determine eligibility.
8. Assists in administering vocational assessments to identify barriers to employment, education, interests, skills, and qualifications.
9. Enters data pertaining to customers in client tracking database within 24 hours of receipt of information or customer interaction.
10.Provides various clerical tasks and supports team members as necessary to achieve departmental goals.
11.Attends weekly, monthly, and quarterly team meetings.
12.Other job related duties as assigned.Other Duties and Responsibilities:1. Updates resource directory to include a listing of state and/or local service providers that participants can contact for assistance for resources to include housing, food, childcare, transportation, clothing, medical insurance, mental health services, emergency assistance, etc.2. Conducts all interactions with customers, employers, community agencies, and funding sources professionally and consistent with GGW mission and policies.Supervisory Responsibility:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Four years of related experience may be substituted for a Bachelors degree.
  • Must be willing to travel to and from various locations in the District of Columbia for recruitment purposes.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills by making clear and effective oral and written presentations to individuals and groups, actively listening to others, and using appropriate questing techniques to gather feedback and opinions
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities and disadvantages and community-based organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills by developing and implementing innovative solutions to identified or potential problems.Able to address different problems simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible by adapting behavior and work methods in response to ambiguity, new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles.
  • Ability to cope effectively with job pressures and stress.
  • Ability to handle multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal sensitivity by modeling personal characteristics of patience, tolerance, enthusiasm, compassion and empathy.

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and database management.
  • Ability to type 45 or more words per minute.
