POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Blackboard Cloud Services team, you will have a unique opportunity to join a small development group at Blackboard that is breaking new ground in the way that our e-learning software is designed, developed, and delivered to customers. Our approach to insuring quality spans all development functions from design to deployment. As our Cloud Test Automation Engineer, you will work with leading edge technologies, agile practices, and amazingly smart people to deliver test automation solutions for our leading edge products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interact closely with the development team to analyze user stories, acceptance criteria, and test coverage requirements.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the test automation codebase.
• Help to identify, isolate, report and track defects and validate resolutions.
• Assert yourself as an active member of an agile team of developers. Participate in daily stand-ups, design sessions, peer reviews.
• Be willing to respond to the unique challenges of delivering and maintaining cloud-based software.
• Be curious, explore, thrive in the face of hard problems

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer science, a passion for software testing strategies, problem solving, analytical thinking, and strong written & verbal communication skills.

Required skills:

• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Working knowledge of object oriented and scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript
• Familiarity with test-driven-development
• Passion for user-focused design & high quality technology

Highly valued additional skills for this position:

• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, FitNesse
• Fluent in a variety of software engineering topics related to architecture, programming, and software development processes
• Experience with web services and databases
• Fluency with several programming languages such as Java, Scala, Javascript
• Prior experience with cloud / SaaS based projects
