Desktop Integration Engineer at Washington

Job Description

The incumbent will work in the End User Systems Management team, which is responsible for the evaluation, testing, and implementation of emerging technologies in desktop, server and mobile computing areas as well as various project oriented services such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

Duties and Accountabilities:
Participate in all aspects of the engineering process to implement security solutions (e.g., requirements definition, top-level functional designs, project management, cost analysis).
Install, configure, and maintain desktop security software components and infrastructure servers, such as McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), in a lab environment.
Ensure the reliability of endpoint protection systems. Provide support for desktop security applications, such as the host intrusion prevention system (HIPS), firewall, and full-disk encryption (FDE), to maintain stable and effective desktop security.
Evaluate and provide feedback on future security technologies, new releases and upgrades. Assess and provide recommendations on their business relevance and deployment. Identify solutions that meet business requirements, align with strategic goals, and improve performance.
Analyze business and technical requirements. Design, test, debug, maintain, modify and document systems/solutions to meet those requirements. Coordinate the design of subsystems and their integration with larger systems.
Implement integration plans. Interface with testing teams to incorporate plans into the integration testing process.
Design and plan testing efforts, coordinate feedback of test results. Develop case test files. Conduct unit, system, stress, integration and/or user testing to ensure that requirements are met.
Perform troubleshooting for security incidents that require software and network forensic analysis, in close collaboration with other teams.
Ensures that policies, procedures and standards are factored into project design and development.
Documents detailed system specifications for major systems installations.

Selection Criteria:
BS or graduate degree in computer science/engineering with proven experience directly related to information security, computer systems, software development, testing, integration, and deployment.
In depth understanding of Windows OS internals (kernel structure, driver model).
Proven experience with scripting using WMI, ADSI with VB/J script, PowerShell.
Familiar with system performance analysis tools for Microsoft Windows, diagnostic tools (e.g. Windows Kernel debugger,) to help speed up problem isolation and resolution.
Strong knowledge of Windows Domain and Active Directory structures, including group policy deployment, and GPO for securing corporate computers.
Familiarity with performance analysis using performance monitoring and tuning tools (e.g., Xperf).
Good understanding of internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, XML), Windows Networks (Active Directory, WINS, NETBIOS, NDIS), and Network Security.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Initiative and resourcefulness in complex environments; flexibility and the ability to effectively prioritize conflicting demands in high-pressure and time-critical situations are essential.
Good understanding of Desktop Virtualization platforms and Cloud services.
