Employment Specialist at Washington

Job Description

  • Asses work readiness skills of young ex-offenders
  • Conduct activities to enhance motivation and improve communication skills
  • Assist with workshops and teaching of job readiness skills and life skills related to attainment of pre-employment competencies
  • Administer tests to measure participant competency of program components 
  • Assist all participants in job search, barrier resolution, and work-life balance management 
  • Ensure that all participants adhere to all center guidelines and regulations 
  • Assist Program Coordinator/Project Director as needed 
  • Identify job opportunities that match the skill set and capabilities of the clients
  • Develop job resources that will assist the clients in their search for gainful employment
  • Maintain accurate data for reporting purposes

Job Requirements

  • A.S. Degree or a minimum of three years of experience working with youth, workforce development or ex-offenders 
  • Excellent communication skills and public speaking abilities 
  • Must be able to handle communications and correspondence in English (Spanish a plus).  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, resume writing, and using job search engines 
  • Experience conducting group workshops/training for job readiness skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to use creativity and enthusiasm to motivate young adults and tailor learning activities to meet group and individual needs 
  • Ability to locate resources to overcome possible barriers to the successful completion of the program.
  • Must have an acute “Eye “for details
  • Must be a “People Person."
