Network Engineer at Washington

Job Description

Job Classification: Contract Our client, a primer international law firm with a diversified business practice, is looking for a Sr. Voice Engineer to join their team. This is a full time opportunity with a great full time salary, bonus potential, and excellent benefits package. Ideal candidate must have experience with Cisco VoIP and building Unified Connections and Voice Gateways from the ground up. Opportunity Highlights:- Premier International Law Firm- Multi- Functional | Ability to work with all technologies- Bleeding Technologies- State of the Art Building | Downtown D.C. | Union Station- 10% International TravelGeneral Functions:Assist in the firm-wide configuration, maintenance, support, and deployment of all network and voice hardware including Cisco routers, and switches, as well as Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection. Knowledge of ASA firewalls is a plus. In-depth knowledge of Spanning-tree, VLANs, TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, QOS, VSS, and VPN technologies required. In-depth knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications architecture with deployment experience. Candidate must also possess strong verbal/written communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be available to support a 24x7 environment.Specific Job Duties:- Capable of configuring, maintaining, and supporting Cisco Unified Communications Manager, quality of service (QoS), H.323 gateways, IP phones, voice applications and utilities on Cisco routers, and Cisco Catalyst switches. Additionally, the integration and troubleshooting of Cisco Unified Communications applications, specifically Cisco Unity Connection Cisco Emergency Responder, and Cisco Contact Center Express.- Familiarity with telecommunications, protocols and procedures, to include installing voice circuits, and working with LECs for circuit turn-up and porting.- Capable of configuring, maintaining, and supporting Cisco routers in a BGP, RIP, and OSPF environment.- Capable of configuring, maintaining, and supporting Cisco Catalyst switches.- Capable of providing effective diagnosis and problem-solving in both autonomous and team-oriented situations, and can transition easily between both environments.- Able to communicate effectively with users and other support staff, both on an interpersonal basis, as well as in facilitating effective diagnosis and problem-solving.- Able to provide clear, concise, and complete technical support information, and documentation. - Possess strong diagnostic, creative thinking, and problem solving skills.- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, and to interact with technical and non-technical staff in diverse troubleshooting situations.- Ability to work within defined policies and procedures to provide creative solutions in a manner complimentary to the defined policies and procedures. Qualifications:- Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance of Cisco Unified Communication Manager.- Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance of Cisco voice gateways to include dial-peers, translation patterns, and SRST. - Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance of Cisco Unity in a unified messaging environment.- Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance of Cisco, Juniper routers - Knowledge and experience with support and maintenance of Nortel, Cisco, and Extreme switches. - Knowledge and experience with supporting RIP, OSPF, VPN, TCP/IP, Spanning-tree, VLANs and QOS.- Professional certifications desired CCNA, CCNP, CCVP, or other.- B.A. in Computer Science, or significant equivalent experience.- Capable of working independently with little supervision.- Ability to deal effectively with technical and non-technical staff, and firm client personnel.- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair complex network problems.- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair complex VoIP problems.- Ability and willingness to learn.- Strong verbal and written communications skills.Physical Requirements:- Ability to handle fast-paced, high stress situations.- Ability to work with others in face-to-face meetings.- Ability to work occasional extended hours.- Ability to lift 50LBs.- Up to 10% travel may be required.
