Affinity Insurance Services, a division of Aon, is a full-service insurance broker/administrator specializing in the marketing and administration of insurance programs for Aons affinity customer groups. We are the vital link bringing together these groups with underwriting companies. For our customers, we are an advocate, providing competitive products and easily accessible, world-class customer service. For the underwriting company, we provide the marketing and administrative expertise necessary to maximize their policy sales.
We currently have an exciting career opportunity for an Underwriting Specialist II in our Washington, DC office.
This position will support Aon Affinity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Underwrite Director and Officer accounts in accordance with agreed upon underwriting guidelines, regulatory compliance and carrier administration standards requirements (standard / non-standard market)
- Fostering and cultivating agent/broker relationships
- Underwrite multi-line P&C program for a national builder/developer (property, general liability, umbrella etc.)
- Deliver high quality /accuracy of the product for clients new and / or existing accounts
- Use sound judgment and independent thinking to achieve the maximum result within authority and state guidelines
- Identify premium growth opportunities with current book by cross sell offering other coverage
- Collect/monitor competitive intelligence on all key competitors within assigned areas; anticipate clients needs by contributing to research and development of products /endorsements
- Work with Underwriting Manager to organize and prepare rating information in carrier system(s)
- Works independently with moderate guidance and supervision
- Actively seeks out new and challenging projects
- Performs other duties as required
- Travel may be required
Required Skills and Experience
- 3 + years P&C insurance underwriting required (insurance company underwriting an asset). Management Liability underwriting experience a plus
- Experience with Community/Homeowners Associations and the Builder/Developer segment a plus
- Experience working with insurance agents/brokers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary to communicate in a professional manner with clients and the marketplace
- Analytical skills problem solving
- Experience using MicroSoft office suite products
- Experience with SalesForce.com a plus
- Ability to work in fast pace environment
- P& C License required
Education:
High School required, Bachelors degree preferred
