Literacy Consultant - Temp at Washington

By making data actionable in real time, our Insight products and services help teachers and administrators assess student progress, adapt to student needs and accelerate student learning.
Amplify seeks dedicated and experienced literacy educators ready to transform schools using innovative technological tools, data driven practices, collaborative planning and problem solving. Successful candidates will be part of our Professional Services school literacy team who will support the staff in the use of Amplifys methodology, the Common Core State Standards and other proven strategies to boost student reading achievement through a three-year program of intensive, onsite support. This will be a temporary position.


Responsibilities of Literacy Consultant:

  • Coach school leadership teams and K-3 teachers in analyzing data and using data to inform instruction
  • Support data coaches and instructional coaches with implementation of the Common Core State Standards
  • Facilitate meetings of Professional Learning Communities
  • Model whole group and small group literacy instruction
  • Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers
  • Train and support teachers in the use of state-of-the-art technology to collect and analyze student data
  • Travel to schools daily to deliver services and build strong relationships
  • Provide written status reports to project management team regularly
  • Participate in Amplifys consultant certification process

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years of K-3 classroom teaching experience
  • 3+ years of experience teaching reading/literacy

Preferred Requirements:

  • Masters Degree
  • 5+ years of teaching experience with diverse populations
  • Ability to model effective instruction for whole class and small groups required
  • Experience with cognitive coaching, meeting facilitation, and adult training
  • Instructional leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills
  • Must live in, be able to commute to or be willing to relocate to Washington, DC
  • Immediate start, preferable
