The Manager of Practice Technology Consulting will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. The Manger of Practice Technology Consulting is responsible for managing the Practice Technology Consulting program including the daily operations and supervision of the Discover Technology Project Managers. He/she formulates appropriate local policies and implements global policies in the local setting as well as manage all aspects of the PTC infrastructure, including managing practice support projects, coordinating internal and external resources and overseeing technical consulting efforts.
 

Your responsibilities and duties will also include:

  • Providing proactive consultation, guidance, and strategic advice to all Managers, Attorneys, and Staff regarding general PSS activities in their office.
  • Creating standards, procedures and best practices in the areas of processing, review and production of documents and electronically stored information as well as workflow, project tracking, and vendor management.
  • Defining protocols and best practices in the areas of electronic discovery document review, productions, depositions and trial or arbitration preparation that comply with regional or local jurisdictional standards and requirements.
  • Ensuring that the Project Managers are educated on current practice support software and review platforms that are utilized internally, or frequently utilized by case teams (e.g. Concordance, Relativity, LAW, IPRO, iCONECTnXT LiveNote, CaseMap, etc.)
  • Participating in conference calls with clients’ technology staff to create data maps and consult on collection strategies. Training and mentoring team members on various forensic technologies.
  • Working with the Manager of Practice Support Operations (GSO) to efficiently coordinate activities, workflows and procedures between the Project Managers and the Practice Support Center staff to ensure projects are completed within specifications.
  • Staying abreast of current and new technologies, market trends, laws, compliance requirements and organizational trends that may provide benefit to, or create risk for, the firm. Working with and making recommendations to the Director of Practice Support Services regarding project management and technical consulting services.

Job Requirements

The successful Manger of Practice Technology Consulting will have excellent leadership, communication, and Project Management skills, financial literacy, analysis, and reporting skills, presentation skills, ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm, ability to manage the work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy, ability to perceive and analyze complex problems, and a capacity to make or recommend sound decisions. Bachelor’s degree required, eight (8) years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. Eight (8) years of paralegal or practice support experience required. Three (3) years relevant managerial experience required. Ability to develop and implement processes, policies and procedures in a large organization is essential. Advanced knowledge of data types and forensic tools for data collection, thorough knowledge and proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office, and other programs necessary to complete thorough analyses and reports, and excellent knowledge of electronic discovery procedures and practices affecting the collection, processing, review and production of documents is essential. Ability to understand database concepts or basic knowledge of MS Access or SQL Server required. Extensive time using a computer including use of a PC keyboard and mouse or similar data input devices are required. Frequent travel may also be required.
