Job Description

WUSA9, the Gannett-owned CBS affiliate in Washington, DC, is currently accepting applications for the position of Sports Producer - Part Time for the high energy, sports show Game On! This weekend sports program, features Hall of Fame athletes and award winning journalists.
In this position, you will be responsible for the show content, format, promotional strategies and digital assets. The Sports Producer works with the Executive Producer, Sports and the WUSA9 Newsroom, Marketing, Sales and Digital staffs. Must be highly creative, have excellent producing, writing and editing skills; grow audience share; troubleshoot issues and find solutions to dominate football coverage in the Washington, DC area. This is a part time, five month, temporary position, from August to December 2013.

BA/BS in journalism, communications, related field or comparable experience.
Minimum two years live sports producing of on-air newscasts and specials in a medium/major market, including post-production.
Experience using all platforms to report sports news: broadcast, online and mobile.
Excellent writing, editing, interpersonal and organization skills.
Minimum two years nonlinear editing experience.
EMPS experience; Edius experience a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, under tight deadlines and with breaking news situations.
